A Bit About Laura

Laura McCarthy is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Masters Certified Addictions Professional (MCAP) with the State of Florida, having graduated with a Masters degree in Counseling with Honors, from Webster University.   
       She has been a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC) since 2001, as a Certified Biblical Counselor and a follower of Jesus Christ since July 18, 1987. Her personal recovery and healing from Substance Use Disorders, trauma, and co-dependency began on May 3, 1985. She is considered an expert in addictions and served many years in a community-based Substance Abuse treatment center.   

      Laura is a Recovery and Mental Health Advocate, Motivational Speaker, Educator, and Author. She is the Founder of the Brevard Opioid and Addictions Conference held every September in honor of National Recovery Month.  She loves to worship God, play pickleball, and ski.  
     Her other accomplishments include being EMDR trained and is passionate for educating and healing trauma, addictions, attachment, and shame. Her passion is to restore hope to the hopeless, and stop the stigma of addictions and mental health..  
       She is a member of the Space Coast Mental Health Counselors Association (SCMHCA), the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC), Space Coast EMDR Study Group, and the Brevard Opioid Abuse Task Force.  
         Laura has been married to her husband, Chuck, for over 30 years, has two adult married children.
